Cyanotype—A Morning in Blue
- · 10:00–13:00

A sheet of paper, a few plants or found objects, and light: that’s all you need to get started. In this workshop, you’ll learn about cyanotype and create your own deep-blue images. You don’t need a camera or any prior experience—just a desire to try something new.
First, learn about it. Then, try it yourself.
Cyanotype is a fine art photographic printing process dating back to 1842. After a brief introduction to its history and technique, we’ll coat the paper together. You’ll place plants, objects, or negatives on top and expose them to sunlight or UV light. The image emerges as you wash the paper.
After that, there’s room for your ideas: arrange motifs differently, switch up materials, and see what happens. I’ll guide you through the process and show you what matters most. At the end, you’ll take several of your own cyanotypes home with you.
